Frequently
Asked Questions |
What
is intuition:
An ‘inner’ sensation or a knowing;
an awareness; a ‘gut’ feeling; an
inspiration; a revelation; a premonition (of forthcoming
events). It is an innate skill that we all
share.
What intuition is not:
Wishful thinking; instinct; it does not involve
conscious awareness; it emanates from internal awareness
Where
does intuition come from:
Researchers do not agree on one single source of
intuition. Some argue that it is simply the accumulation
of knowledge and experience over time leading to
superior skills of pattern recognition. Our view
is that intuition is beyond cognitive awareness.
It is a process by which information normally outside
the range of cognitive processes is sensed and perceived
in the body and the mind as a certainty of knowledge
or feeling about the totality of a event or situation
distant or yet to occur.
How
do I know if I am intuitive?
Every one is intuitive. You already
have had intuitive experiences - in your everyday
life.
By acknowledging these intuitive experiences, you begin to become familiar with your own patterns of intuitive response.
What can I expect
to feel in an intuitive response?
Intuitive responses can present themselves
in different forms. For example, you may get
an intuitive flash (visual image) or you may hear
a voice (auditory) or you may have ‘gut’
feelings (kinesthetic) which is a strong physical
sensation or an emotional feeling about an issue
or person.
How have other people used intuition in their life or work?
Intuition is sometimes experienced in the first
moments when you awaken. Paul McCartney awoke
and immediately went to the piano to write the lyrics
for the popular song “Yesterday.” Jonas
Salk (scientist) discovered the formula for the
polio vaccine after experiencing a dream state.
Some of the many scientists and artists who have attributed intuition to great breakthroughs in their work include: Albert Einstein; Sir Isaac Newton; Dr Jonas Salk; Johann Sebastian Bach and in more recent times, Paul McCartney, Francis Ford Coppola.
How
do I benefit when I work with you?
